ELECTRONIC / ONLINE DATABASE
 
Finding articles becomes easy using electronic databases and internet. Put in practical the use of Boolean operators and refer to advanced search techniques that have been suggested by some electronic databases for effective searching
 
Currently, MUST Library provide both fee and free based online databases. Most of fee based databases, the subscription begins from 2001 and onwards and are available in full text. The articles under non subscription years limit the view to abstracts only. Please consult librarians for more information

Thesis
 
This collection has begun with the items date begins from the year 2003 and comprising of individual Masters works of 3 early programs offered in the University; Biotechnology, Transportation and Information Technology. They can be searched using OPAC and available in three forms; original print, computer file and via pdf. To view them in pdf form, generic password for all type of internal online works is being used. The original print copies are available for reference use only and computer files can be loaned out for 14 days
 
 
 
Government documents
 
Government documents are placed in Reference collection comprises of bulletins, annual budget reports, and statistics of organizational agencies
 
 
Reading articles
 
Reading articles are reference documents supplied by faculty members for their respective programs students. These collections are placed at RBR area and are compiled in respective subject codes
 
 
 
Online newspapers
 
MUST Library subscribe 3 online local newspapers. They are New Strait Times, The Malay Mail and The Star. Three computers that each designates to respective newspaper are located at Multimedia area. Archive newspaper articles can be searched in NSTP e-Media under electronic database source
 
LIBRARY GEOWEB OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)
This tool intends to find books, thesis, reports, CDs, course reading/articles, printed journal within the library holding
Keywords / Subject searching
GeoWeb OPAC allows using any words and limiting the search using keywords that have been listed in a drop down menu. For instance, if specific subject heading is known, simply type it and choose keyword subject
The MARC record presents more detail information for each item found. The subject headings, author, series are highlighted in blue italic form. The italic information are online active and may lead to other items disregard of their format that share, carry the same or relevant information
The relevant subject headings may be narrow or broad. They can be subdivided into more specific field, interest, period of time and geographical area
The search may or may not retrieve results, depending on the availability of the materials in MUST library or the efficiency of search technique being applied

Keyword searching
Use “keyword searching“ for specific or known topic in search. Several options of keyword search; All words, title, subjects, notes, ISSN, ISBN, call number, series, Dewey #, LC Class.

Result: 4 books are found that contain word “bioprocess” in their titles. You can view the details of each record by clicking the particular title

Browse Searching
Use “Browse searching” for the unknown subject or to get all related items that might have contain the identified keyword
Example: Type word “bioprocess” and search by ti: title. The number of results is more as the list will include all titles that contain either word “bio” or process”, and can be both words
 
   
History
Click history to view your previous search and therefore could help you refine your search or to select keyword either by use narrow or broad keyword
