Students of MUST will have a range of the most state-of-the-art facilities such as computer workstations with high performance Internet connection, wireless network facility for individual study and project work. MUST Library also can be accessed from anywhere at any time and most cases student doesn’t have to come in person to the library because everything is provided electronically that are available in the library right on their desktop.

Computing Facility
MUST Library has 18 Dell Optiplex GX240 & GX260 computers bundled with Microsoft Office XP Suite application with full access to MUST Library’s services and the Internet. They are all strategically located inside and outside the library four walls. Besides using computers in the library, patrons can obtain most of the Library’s vital information by using the Information Kiosks located just adjacent to outside library’s entrance.

Users may only login to the computers by using personal MUST authentication ID and password. All of these computers allow users to get accessed via World Wide Web to the library homepage (electronic and online databases, library catalog and many other library services) in addition to Stellar, e-mail and Internet connections.
 
Multimedia Area
In the Multimedia area, there are 28 seats with power and network ports available for general use. Stationed through this area are 18 Dell Optiplex that are intended for accessing library web services or any other university’s services such as Stellar web links, MUST academic calendar, class timetable, course description and etc.
A printer cum photocopy machine can be found in this area and printing can be done directly from LIB8, LIB9, LIB10 and LIB20 workstations only.
Besides at the Multimedia area, the library reading area and discussion rooms have data ports and electrical outlets conveniently at hand so that users can both use them and connect to the campus network.
 
Reading Area
MUST Library reading area is the first time ever in Malaysia that equip with wireless-based stations to enable laptop users to connect to the campus network. All Library electronic resources are available from anywhere within the Library area so as to support educational mission of MUST.

Also, open access shelving in the reading area users will find:

-- Journals Unit
At present, the Library reading area provides four tables with four armed chairs for each table. Users have ample and open reading space as a long curve table facing the outside view with seating of up to 9 chairs is provided.

Carrel
MUST Library provide 14 carrels that equipped with electric power points and network ports for laptop connection to the MUST campus network. Hence, giving more seating options to users to go onto online.
 
Photocopy / Printing Service
MUST Library provide a self-service photocopy cum printer machine in the Multimedia area for library users and staff. The machine can print files from the network or from a disk and require an Absec card to print and photocopy.

The machine operates on a disposable Absec copy card and cards may be purchased at the Library Circulation Counter. Users will find printing instructions on a desk near to the card reader machine which instruct how to select the print work file name to be printed.

MUST Library is using the Pcounter Station; a print release station which works together with the printer
To do printing, please follow the following steps:-
1.
To log in using your university's login and password from any of the following PCs (LIB8, LIB9, LIB10 and LIB20) in the multimedia area
2.
Open your preferred "file or document" and click the "Print" button
3.
Go to LIB12 (designated as the Pcounter release station) and choose your respective file or document (Note : no login is required at LIB12)
4.
Insert your printing/photocopying card (Absec card) to the card reader next to LIB12
5.
Click "Print" on the pop-up window at LIB12
6.
Collect your printing copy from Canon Printer
7.
Eject your printing/photocopying card from the Absec Reader
NOTE : Pcounter Station does not support photocopying. If you need to make photocopy, please use the Absec card reader located next to the Canon printer

The Library’s photocopying service is offered in accordance with the provisions of the Malaysian Copyright Act 1987 (Act 332). Explanatory notice is displayed near to the machine.

Library users to abide the following:
i
The Malaysian Copyright Act 1987 (Act 332) abides the right to confers on the copyright owner the exclusive right to control the copying of his / her whole work or substantial part of it.
ii
Use the photocopying machines for making copies from a copyright work may amount to an infringing act under the Malaysian Copyright Act 1987 which may subject the user to legal liability.
iii
In accordance with the Act, all parties are forbidden to make copies of the whole or substantial part of books from the library / books being brought in from anywhere else.
iv
The Malaysian University of Science and Technology shall be neither responsible nor liable for any infringing act by library users.
Hour
The machine is available during the hours in which the Library is open. The Library will not refund the unintended print or copying pages which cause to the reduction value of the disposable card.
Cost
Each disposable card costs RM10.00. The cost is 5 cents per copy for size of papers A4 and A3 and black and white tone.
Features
The machine can reduce and enlarge the copying and includes copying on to A4 and A3 size paper and double sliding.
User’s Responsibility
It is the responsibility of individual users of the printer cum photocopy machine to observe the legal requirements of the Malaysian Copyright Act 1987 (Act 322). These photocopies are made available on the express condition that users will indemnify the University in respect of any claim made against it for breach of copyright.
